There ’ s always something going on in Guernsey ! The island ’ s calendar of annual events and festivals ranges from foot-tapping music and mouthwatering cuisine to sporting challenges and historic extravaganzas . Annual events include :
Liberation Day : The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by German forces in World War II . The five year occupation came to an end on 9 May 1945 and Liberation Day is a public holiday and still celebrated annually .
Spring Walking Festival : A wide range of walks led by accredited guides take place during June . Hear fascinating tales , see historical landmarks and learn about the island and enjoy its beautiful scenery .
Tennerfest : While island food and drink is celebrated as much as possible , visitors to Guernsey can look forward to six weeks of great meals at fixed prices during the annual Tennerfest ( October-early November ). With special menus starting at just £ 10 , many restaurants offer a wide and exciting selection of food during the festival .
