Possible by Supporting Child Life
Children’ s Colorado has one of the largest and most innovative child life programs in the country. Our Child Life Department in Colorado Springs is helping lead the way in improving the healthcare experience for kids through therapeutic play, connection, creativity, animal-assisted therapy thanks to the new Colorado Springs medical dog Salida, gaming and more.
Here, we believe that healing goes far beyond treating a disease. For many of our patients, there’ s a“ before” and an“ after.” Before they got cancer. Before they were in a car accident. Before their seizures started. And then, their lives afterward: they begin daunting journeys that don’ t come with an instruction manual.

MILITARY FAMILIES COUNT ON OUR CARE
Military families stationed at major bases in southern Colorado rely on the hospital in Colorado Springs for a full spectrum of pediatric specialty care. Our Colorado Springs hospital is a key contributing factor to ensuring the military installations in southern Colorado remain designated Exceptional Family Member locations.
We are essential to military families who frequently request to be based in Colorado due to their proximity to Children’ s Colorado and the specialty care we provide. Military families who utilize TRICARE, or a mix of TRICARE and Medicaid for insurance coverage, make up approximately 17 % of our patient population.
