CHAMPIONS CHALLENGE MIXED FORMAT EVENT
CHAMPIONS CHALLENGE MIXED FORMAT EVENT
The Winning Team : Daniel Acosta , Alejandra Bedoya and Jaco Campos
The goal at the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy is to create a positive culture and learning environment to allow students to reach higher levels in their golf game . This fall semester , a new GGGA tradition includes an organized event during weekend golf to promote and challenge the students in between tournaments and allow them to gain more competitive experience . Once a month , the students will participate in different tournament formats as a team or individually called the Champion ’ s Challenge .
This past month , the students were organized in teams to play in a mixed format event at the Las Colinas golf course at Mission Inn Resort . The goal was to have them play with fellow academy students from other golf training groups and work together in a format that challenged them with holes 1-6 played as best ball , holes 7-12 as a scramble and 13-18 in a modified alternate shot format .
This provided a fun and competitive atmosphere during the event with the winning team of Jaco Campos , Daniel Acosta and Alejandra Bedoya shooting a combined winning score of 63 . With almost all of the GGGA student body participating in the mixed format event , we look forward to the Champions Challenge becoming another key element in continuing GGGA ’ s culture and positive environment of building champions .
