To be eligible , homeowners must meet the following requirements :
• The homeowner must own the home , which must be located in the City of Arlington .
• The homeowner cannot be delinquent in taxes or other fees .
• Projects involving the reconstruction or remodel must cost at least $ 20,000 and be completed within 24 months of project approval . New construction will not be considered under this program .
• The homeowner must submit an application to the City of Arlington prior to improvement , and provide a cost estimate for the improvement project , consent to periodic inspections during construction and verify final construction costs .
• The homeowner must execute an Incentive Agreement with the City of Arlington prior to any work starting .

Tool Sharing in Arlington Begins High Season

Do-it-yourself season is here , and Arlington ’ s Tool Sharing program can help residents tackle their home maintenance projects .
Broken lawn mower ? Trees need trimming ? Repairs needed around the home ? The Tool Sharing Program offers Arlington residents a variety of tools and equipment they may checkout , free of charge , to assist with property cleanup and improvement .
The most popular tools include push mowers , string trimmers , leaf blowers , pole saws and pressure washers . And , as of March 2024 , more than 850 reservations have been completed and 2,744 tools have been used by residents , says Robert Rodriguez , Senior Code Compliance Officer , on the Neighborhood Enhancement Team . Additionally , more than 957 possible code violations have been proactively corrected because of the program .
Tool Sharing reservations can be submitted online or by calling 817-459-6777 . City of Arlington staff will schedule drop-off of tools or equipment at the residence . Delivery of tools and equipment is available only on Monday , Wednesday , and Friday between 9 a . m . and 1 p . m . The tool sharing program is offered to help complete cleanup , mowing and lawn maintenance , tree and shrub trimming , power washing , household and fence repair or home repair tasks .
“ Not everyone has a vehicle large enough to transport a lawn mower or power washer , or the funds to purchase or rent these items ,” says an Arlington resident , who has used the program tools . “ The best part is being able to reserve the equipment , know it will be delivered and picked up without having to leave the house ,” says another resident fan of tool sharing .
