Neighborhood Leadership Network Moves to In-Person Meetings in 2023
The Neighborhood Leadership Network ( NLN ) held the first inperson quarterly meeting on November 4 , 2023 in the City Hall Council Chamber . The NLN began in 2020 and has been held virtually each quarter due to the Covid pandemic .
The National Association of Town Watch named Arlington as the first-place recipient in its 2023 National Night Out ( NNO ) Awards program , highlighting communities with a population of 300,000 + for outstanding participation and engagement during the annual event .
This marks the third time in four years ( 2020 , 2021 , 2023 ) that Arlington has taken top honors and has placed in the top three nationally since 2015 . The awards recognize quality of event , community engagement , and law enforcement involvement .
NNO brings together neighbors , community leaders , police , firefighters , and other city employees in a fun , relaxed environment to forge lasting relationships that strengthen community . More than 150 Arlington neighborhoods , organizations , and businesses hosted NNO events .
“ We ’ re incredibly honored to receive this recognition and I hope our entire community takes pride in it because it truly is a reflection on them ,” said Chief of Police Al Jones . “ The Arlington Police Department is an agency that wants to engage with its community and Arlington is a community that wants to engage with its police department . This just further proves that . I ’ d like to express my deep appreciation to all the APD employees who participated and to all the community members who hosted and attended NNO parties .”

More than 30 neighborhood leaders came together to network and learn about ongoing city initiatives including neighborhood matching grants , capital projects , and more .

The NLN brings together Arlington residents who care about their neighborhoods and actively participate and advocate for their success . Member expertise and resources are shared to advance neighborhood priorities and enhance quality of life in Arlington .
NLN meetings are held quarterly , and all residents interested in learning about neighborhood leadership are invited to attend . The next NLN meeting will be on Saturday , February 24 , at 9:30 a . m . in the City Hall Council Chamber , 101 W . Abram Street .
