Highlights
Arlington EMS System and Ambulance Services
Arlington’s Emergency Medical
Service system is an integration
of the resources of the Fire
Department and the City’s
private ambulance contractor,
American Medical Response
(AMR). In order to minimize costs
to our residents, the City requires
AMR to provide a subscription
program that eliminates or
reduces out-of-pocket expenses
for medically necessary
ambulance transports.
All Arlington firefighters are
Emergency Medical Technicians
certified as either EMT-
Intermediates or Paramedics.
This high level of training allows
them to perform advanced
life support skills, including
initiating intravenous access for drugs and fluids, inserting endotracheal breathing tubes, and administering
medications for a variety of medical conditions.
Residents may enroll in the AMR Ready Care program at any time. For questions regarding the Ready Care
subscription program, please call AMR at 682-227-6035.
The utilization of a private ambulance service provides our citizens a substantial amount of tax relief as most
Fire Departments have this service embedded in their operation; this includes human resources and capital
outlay.
