Board of Directors Election
According to the by-laws of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce : At the November membership meeting , the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce shall review the Nominating Committee report and ask those members in attendance if there are additional nominations to be submitted . If no additional nominations are submitted , a motion shall be requested to ratify the Nominating Committee ’ s list of candidates and those candidates shall be declared elected for a three ( 3 ) year term , beginning January 1 , following election . In the event of additional nominations being made , a contest will be declared and members may vote by secret ballot for four ( 4 ) candidates in conformity with the rules and regulations as the Board of Directors may adopt . The President will appoint an official Judge ’ s Committee and they will be required to count the ballots within twenty-four ( 24 ) hours after the election . The five ( 5 ) candidates receiving the highest number of votes cast shall be declared elected for a three ( 3 ) year term , beginning January 1 , following election . Should a tie occur , the judges shall cast lots and certify as elected the member or members on whom the selection falls .
The following members in good standing have been nominated to serve a three-year term on the Board of Directors , and will be elected at the November Business After Hours , being held on November 9 , from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at ValuNet Fiber , located at 2914 West Highway 50 , Suite A .
