November & December 2017
Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau
From the President
Where has the time gone?! It is already November and we are busy making our
plans for 2018! I feel truly blessed and am thankful for all the people who work
hard to make our community a better place to live. The leadership of the Emporia
Area Chamber is no exception.
We have accomplished a lot this year, and it could not be done without the
support of our Board of Directors, Committee Chairs and volunteers.
The Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau is the community’s leading

advocate and champion for business. Our mission is to be proactive in creating
an environment for business and community success. We provide leadership
programs and opportunities, as well as volunteer programs and business-building
initiatives that focus on the critical priorities of the community. By leveraging the
support, talent and resources of its diverse businesses and members, Our Chamber
is one of the leading organizations helping to improve the economic vitality and
quality of life for everyone.
All of the above could not have been accomplished without the leadership
shown by our Chairman Pete Euler, State Farm Insurance. This is his second
year as Chairman, and he has done more than just giving his time and talent to
our organization. He started the year with the #CanDriveEmporia tagline, and
saying that together we can drive Emporia in the right direction for all. He has
continually shown a passion for our community and making it a great place for
everyone to live, work and play. We are better for his efforts. We also have
several outgoing Board Members who I want to thank: Kathleen Centlivre, Agler
& Gaeddert and Stuart Symmonds, Symmonds and Symmonds Law Office. I
thank you for your gift of time and knowledge in serving the past three years on
our Board of Directors. As with all outgoing Board Members, my hope is that we
continue our relationship in working together on future projects. The changes that
have taken place could not have happened without their support.
2018 will be here before we know it, and we are gearing up for a lot of exciting
changes. We will be aggressive in focusing on areas that are important to you.
We will continue the process of serving your needs, and I think you will be
pleased with the direction we are heading. I always welcome any comments and
suggestions. Our office is here to serve you.
It’s a Great Day in Emporia! Please tell someone.
