Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau May 2014 19 Emporia Farmers Market, Every Saturday in May It’s time to rise and shine early again for Saturday markets in the parking lot at 7th and Merchant, starting at 8:00am on May 3. The first market of the season will feature burritos for breakfast. Bacon or sausage burritos for $4.50; vegetarian burritos for $4.00. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to support the programs and operations of the Emporia Farmers Market. The May 17 market will feature a sick plant clinic by Travis Carmichael, the horticulture specialist at K-State Research & Extension – Lyon County. Emporia Farmers Market invites You to the Pre-Race Palooza Dinner The annual Pasta Palooza fundraiser for the Emporia Farmers Market has been revamped for the 2014 Dirty Kanza event to better showcase locally sourced foods and welcome gravel riders to our community on Friday, May 30. The Pre-Race Palooza Dinner will feature a “meet and mingle” for the community. Featured racers will be on hand for photo opportunities and to sign rider trading cards from 5-6:30 pm. Suggested donations are $10 per individual dining at the Palooza when made in advance. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.  New Vendors Welcome Year Round  The Emporia Farmers Market welcomes new vendors year round. The Emporia Farmers Market is a producer only market, meaning items must be grown, baked, or otherwise crafted by the vendor.
