He is responsible for the
daily operations of four
home health offices in
Eastern KS currently serving 18 counties. Home Town
Health Care employs over 50 employees and more
than 20 contracted support staff. Jon is responsible for
handling all personnel matters, budgets, purchasing,
and vehicle maintenance.
Education: Associate degree from Garden City in
Criminal Justice and a Law Enforcement Certification
from Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, The
University of Kansas.
Career highlights and previous work
experience: Jon started his career with the Parsons
Police Department where he was promoted to Senior
Officer in two years and Supervisor in his third year.
Jon received several awards and commendations
during his service with Parsons. Jon was the lead entry
team member for the Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR)
Team. Jon served six years as Vice President of the
Police Officers Association. Jon later served with the
Labette County Sheriff’s Department, where he was not
only a patrol deputy; but was also the Deputy Director
for Emergency Preparedness, and the Liaison in charge
of the Dive and Rescue Team. Jon was again lead
entry team member and a secondary sniper. Jon
received several awards and a commendation during
his service with Labette County. While still serving with
the Sheriff’s Department, Jon also became an Agent
with the Kansas Department of Revenue, Alcoholic
Beverage Control, until he was transferred to an
Enforcement Agent position with Tax Enforcement,
and Jon moved to Topeka. After several years with
KDOR, Jon was hired by a Governmental contractor
and completed fraud, waste and abuse investigations
of the Medicare program. Jon worked with the Office

of the Inspector General Health and Human Services,
Federal Bureau of Investigations, Food and Drug
Administration, Drug Enforcement Administration,
and US Attorney’s Offices around the Nation. When
the contract ended, Jon chose not to move in order
to continue Federal work and went back to local law
enforcement as the Scranton Police Chief. Later Jon
became the Chief of Police in Carbondale where he
retired from full-time service to run Home Town Health
Care. Jon remains a part-time Police Officer.
Jon opted not to continue government work due to
the fact he had just started his ranch on the former
Topeka Zoo property Southwest of Topeka. There, Jon
owned a herd of elk, white-tailed deer and bison. Jon
supplied elk meat to the Akins Natural Foods, Midwest
chain, sold animals around the country, gave tours and
ran a classroom for firearms classes from beginner to
advanced combat courses, and CCW. Jon is still a
multi-discipline NRA Instructor and Law Enforcement
Firearms Instructor.
Boards and/or committees on which currently
serving: Jon has belonged to Parsons Masonic
Lodge #117 for 13 years as a third degree Mason.
Jon is an associate member of the Certified Fraud
Examiners, Great Kansas City Chapter. For the last six
years Jon has been the Sec/Treasurer for the Kansas
Cervid Breeders Association. Jon is a member of
and a SCI scorer for the North American Elk Breeders
Association. Jon or his designee attends meeting for
the following Chambers of Commerce: Fredonia,
Sedan, Cedar Vale, Madison, Emporia, Osage City,
and Lyndon Pride Committee.
Hobbies and other interesting facts: Aside from
hunting, Jon also enjoys doing living history mounted
impression from 1840 to 1910; as well as history
lessons, community speaking and events. This hobby
has led Jon into TV and movies. Between commercials,
TV series, small budget films, and motion pictures,
Jon has appeared on screen over 30 times. The most
recent movies have been: Jonah Hex, Lincoln, and The
Lone Ranger.
Spouse and children: Jon is not married but has
been in a committed relationship with Maria for over
four years. Jon has three grown kids, one grandson
and four step grandkids; Maria has one grown
daughter and a son still living with Jon and Maria. Jon
enjoys hunting big game in Kansas and has taken his
kids hunting in other states for elk, hog and alligator.
