4-H Fair, Friendly Visitors and Fruit
Pie Cook-Off at the Emporia Farmers
Market in August
On Sunday, August 3, the
Emporia Farmers Market vendors
will travel to the fairgrounds to
participate in the all new Family
Fun Day event. The market will
open at 5:00pm. This fun afternoon
will coincide with a kids pedal
tractor pull. 4-H Ambassadors
are planning a livestock judging
opportunity for youth and adults.
This is your bonus opportunity to
shop the Emporia Farmers Market
and an excellent day to learn more
about 4-H and what it offers to our
community.
On Wednesday, August 6,
the market will be hosted by the
Friendly Visitors Program. Find
out what it takes to be a Friendly
Visitor, or how the Friendly Visitor
services might be of help to you or
a loved one. The services provided
by Friendly Visitor volunteers enable
senior participants to continue
living in their own homes when
the need for assistance might be
growing. Opportunities to volunteer
can fit any schedule, ranging from
a commitment of an hour or two per
week to several hours a day.
Bake us a pie for the market on
Wednesday, August 20. Murphy’s
Menu returns to the market with
a fruit pie cook-off. Make us your
best and bring it to the market
kiosk prior to the 5pm start time.
Shoppers will have the opportunity
to sample and vote for their
favorites. You can’t win if you don’t
enter! Who is Emporia’s best pie
baker? Come shop the market and
find out.
Markets continue to take place
every Wednesday starting at
5:00pm and every Saturday staring
at 8:00am through the end of
October.
