Cabins & Lodge The Upper Connecticut River connects the chain of lakes in Pittsburg. Home to brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout, landlocked salmon and chubs, the river is one of the most productive rivers for fishing in the Northeast. The thick forest, wooded primarily with balsam fir, beech, cherry and birch, provides a way to put truly fresh local food on your table. This vast, remote wilderness is open to public hunting and is accessible by logging roads, four-wheeled drive roads or afoot. This lake is mostly undeveloped and perfect for boating in a quiet serene environment. Lake Francis Northern NH offers some of the finest grouse and woodcock hunting in northern New England. The stocking of ring-necked pheasant several weekends in October introduces a new facet of game bird hunting to the North Country. A man-made lake that lies north of the village of Pittsburg. Partially developed and home to landlocked salmon, lake trout and brown trout. Moose hunting in New Hampshire and Vermont is done by a lottery system.
