1, 9 a.m. Join Dawson County Emergency Services to show appre-
ciation and express gratitude to all Veterans, Active Duty Military
and Public Services Personnel for their dedication to our country
and to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on Septem-
ber 11, 2001. Fire Station 1 is located at 393 Memory Lane.
Monday, September 11, Dawson County Drug Awareness and
Recovery Expo, 6 p.m., The Church at War Hill, 8847 Highway 53
East. The Dawson County Friends of Recovery is celebrating Na-
tional Recovery Month by hosting a Drug Awareness and Recovery
Expo. The expo will offer information on drug prevention, treat-
ment and how using drugs effects families.

Friday, September 15, National POW/MIA Recognition Day,
Veterans Memorial Park, 5 p.m. Join Veterans Affairs of Daw-
son County in remembering POW and MIA soldiers at Veterans
Memorial Park, Highway 9 North. There will be a presentation of
the POW/MIA flag, Missing Man Table and recognition of Georgia
POWs/MIAs with a bell salute. The Dawson County High School
JROTC will also participate.
