START/SWIM
THE SWIM IS 2KM.
Swim warm ups will be permitted until 10 minutes before the respective wave start as long as athletes remain in the designated warm up area. The warm up area will be west of the start line.
Tinted goggles are recommended as the sun will be low in the morning and may shine in your eyes.
You cannot wear your bib number during the swim.
Extra swim caps will be available in the Transition Area before the race.
All athletes will start on the beach.
The swim will start from Okanagan Lake Beach by Rotary Park. The swim is one clockwise loop that will be marked by buoys. Athletes racing the Standard Distance will make a sharp right hand turn at the buoy after 650 m. The swim course will be marked by 5 orange buoys for the Half and 4 orange buoys for the Standard. Athletes must keep buoys on their right.
ANY ATHLETES ELECTING NOT TO RACE MUST NOTIFY AN OFFICIAL AT THE SWIM START OR IN TRANSITION IMMEDIATELY.
Above all, the safety of each swimmer is our primary concern. A full sweep of the course will be made directly behind the last swimmer. Visual aid will be provided by volunteers on paddle boards, kayaks, and motorized vessels. Buoys and aquatic crafts line the course.
