SP03 – Audiology Access Audiology Access allows districts staff to ask questions, request the review of files of students who may not already qualify for services, and request assistance in professional development around hearing loss and equipment. Audiologists are trained to maintain hearing devices in the child's educational environment. They provide FM trials and follow-up to assure the technology is meeting the student's hearing needs. SP04 - Autism Support Specialist Autism Support Specialists are specifically trained in the area of autism and available to complete student evaluations, and provide consultation, support, and staff training at the local district level. Allies in Autism Education (AAE) is a program, in conjunction with CESA 6, that provides on-going Autism coaching and support on a three year commitment. AAE can be a longer term option for your district depending on your local needs. How Can This Service Benefit Your District? Autism consultants/coaches have extensive training and experience assuring the district receives appropriate, school based programming and continued support. SP05 - Classroom for the Cognitively Disabled Classroom services for cognitively disabled students can be provided to districts through a cooperative classroom arrangement. Students are provided special education services based on their individual IEP goals. The teacher of the cognitively disabled provides IEP coordination, student specific IEP services and oversight of the program. Placement, enrollments, caseload analysis and projected costs are provided by the CESA 5 Special Education Director. Cognitively Disabled Classroom cost is calculated based on student FTEs. Cooperative classrooms provide a cost effective option to address the needs of those students with significant medical involvement and who require a specialized learning environment. 17
