spelt wheat and a pregnant sow at the Feriae Sementivae.
She had twelve minor gods who assisted her with specific aspects of farming, from ploughing the land, to sowing, weeding, harvesting and distributing the grain.
Numerous priests revered her too. Some were male. Her senior priest, the flamen cerialis, also served Tellus. Otherwise her rites and her joint cult with Proserpina were led by female sacerdotes, drawn from the local elites, and they far outnumbered her few male priests.
With such a large influence over mankind, a determined belief in the endurance of mother-daughter bonds enhanced by the strength, ingenuity, stubbornness, and a kind, nurturing, loving, caring persona, it is not surprising that Ceres earned her place in the Romans' hearts. As an empowered woman, she deserves the honor of being the namesake of our new magazine. May she bring it luck too!

Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.

Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be
awed by that which has been built up around her; she must
reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression.
