Whether you wear a lot, a little or no makeup at all, skin care is of extreme importance for women of any era. Nowadays, there is so much on the market to cater to specific needs and wants of your skin.

Ladies, pay attention to the products you are using! Your skin will tell you whether to use the product or not. Any time you can get samples, do so. For those with sensitive skin, it is better to try travel-size items even though the better value is typically in a larger container. Would it really be worth it if you didn't like it? Travel size items are a great way to try something long enough to notice any benefit. I know, for me, products may work the first three days; then by day five, I start to react as my skin is pretty sensitive.

Products used to target issues such as softening wrinkles and tightening skin take up to three months to reap the benefits. I can usually tell in a couple of weeks if there are any changes, but if the effect is not causing irritation, like breakouts or rashes, continue using to achieve maximum benefit.

Get in the habit of exfoliating a couple times a week and use a mask at least once a week. I prefer enzyme exfoliants for oily and/or sensitive skin, and gommage or scrub exfoliants for normal to dry skin. Pick a mask that targets something you are trying to correct. Oil absorbing and pore reducing masks are great for oily skin while deep hydrating masks really help to give normal to dry skin a glow.

Mix a tablespoon of plain, low-fat yogurt with a tablespoon of honey and apply it to your face and neck for fifteen minutes. Gently rinse with cool or lukewarm water. Voi-la! A hydrated, glowing skin for any skin type! You can choose to add smashed blueberries or strawberries for antioxidants—great for rejuvenation—or lemon for acneic skin.

If the acne products you are using does not seem to help, and at times irritates your skin even more, stop using them! Switch to "sensitive skin" products. Even then, it will take time to find the right combo. I speak from experience. For years, I used over-the-counter as well as high-quality skin care products to fight my acne, and it would get worse. Once I started using sensitive skin products, I was at ease and, boy, so was my face! I even noticed a difference with vitamin C and vitamin A. Vitamin C was (is) just too aggressive for me whereas vitamin A really helps to calm and sooth my skin.
