Baltinglass Outdoor Education Centre
INTRODUCTION
On behalf of Co. Wicklow Vocational Education Committee it
gives me great pleasure to introduce the Baltinglass Outdoor
Education Centre brochure. Outdoor Education has become
an important element in the overall personal and educational
development of our children at Primary level and Post Primary
level.
The Centre, for many years, has designed outdoor
programmes to meet the needs of Transition Year and Leaving
Cert Applied students taking the Recreation Module. Whatever
activity is chosen, the Centre endeavours to provide
participants with a safe, high quality and challenging
experience. This new brochure shows how courses have been
designed to maximize the benefits to individuals.
The Horizons programme is new to the Centre. This
specially designed programme provides an outdoor education
module for the Stay in School Completion Programme. Outdoor
Education can provide young people with an immediate sense
of fulfilment and helps them experience education in its
broadest terms.
Finally I would like to wish the Centre and its users a
successful and safe year.
