“
For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies . Nothing you desire can compare with it . I , wisdom , live together with good judgement . I know where to discover knowledge and good judgement .” — Proverbs 8:11-12 NLT
Why Sophia ’ s Garden ?
Sophia is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word : chokma , which means divine wisdom . Although we understand wisdom , like God , is neither male nor female , scripture often personifies God with masculine pronouns . In similar fashion wisdom is personified with feminine pronouns in scripture .
Proverbs 8:1-9 offers lavish descriptions of wisdom as a feminine characteristic of the Divine . The New Testament uses it when speaking , for instance , of the wisdom of God ( Rom . 11:33 ; 1 Corinthians 1:24 ; Ephesians 3:10 ).
We hope to craft a place for spirit-filled meditations from those appointed to serve as your Cluster Chaplains and beyond . We welcome and will share readings , meditations , and affirmations from the multiplicity of faith expressions represented within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Incorporated ®.
