MISSION : To prepare individuals to reach their limitless potential by providing superior staff , facilities , training and programs .
BACKGROUND : Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind ( AIDB ) was established in 1858 and provides comprehensive education and rehabilitation services throughout Alabama to over 31,000 infants , children , adults and seniors annually , who are Deaf , Blind , DeafBlind or multidisabled . Programs include Alabama School for the Deaf , Alabama School for the Blind , Helen Keller School of Alabama , Alabama Freedom Center for the Blind , E . H . Gentry Facility and Alabama Industries for the Blind .
BRAG LINES :
A statewide network of regional centers provides early intervention for infants and children , an interpreter , counseling , technology and education services for adults and seniors .
Whether by educational development for young children , training for families or adjustment and support for adults , regional center services are available where people need it the most — in their home communities .
