Montgomery-based Program Management and Technology Services , Incorporated ( PMTS Inc .) offers a wide range of IT services . According to Ken Tuck , the founder ’ s son and current COO , the company ’ s ability to provide tailored solutions and support to a diverse array of businesses and organizations is key to its success , but not the only factor . He points to his company ’ s character . “ We endeavor to drive continual improvement and innovation based on efficient business processes , well-defined measurements , industry best practices and customer feedback ,” he said . “ Our values are integrity-based , and our goal is to create a culture of collaboration , mutual respect and trust .”

Creating and exemplifying this company character was a motivating force for Ken ’ s mom , PMTS ’ CEO Ruby Tuck , when she founded the company in 2013 . “ She was a government employee for over 34 years . She decided to establish PMTS to help improve program management and software development services being offered to the government and to create a legacy that would continue for generations ,” Ken said .
Ken followed his mom into the IT world , working 15 years as an IT Solutions Architect with Cox Communications , before coming to PMTS in 2018 . Soon , other relatives came onboard . Ruby ’ s niece , Tiffany Andrews , joined the team in 2019 , and Ken ’ s brother , Kelly , rounded out the roster in 2022 , leaving a 14-year civil service career as a Computer Specialist / Functional Manager with the Department of Defense .

Open and honest communication , setting clear expectations and maintaining professionalism are key to hopping over hurdles that can arise when working with family . “ Regularly assess and adjust strategies as the business evolves and be prepared to seek external guidance when needed ,” said Ken Tuck , PMTS Inc .’ s COO . “ Regular family meetings also provide a dedicated space to address concerns , share feedback and make collective decisions .”
