Sean Sabel
Sabel Steel names new President and CEO
Sean Sabel has been named President and CEO of Montgomery-based Sabel Steel Service . He is the 6th generation of the Sabel family to run the company and succeeds his father , Keith Sabel , who was President and CEO for 35 years . Sean Sabel began working at the company in 2010 as a scrap metal sorter , working in sales , purchasing , bandsaw operator and , most recently , as COO . Sabel also serves on the boards of the Montgomery Zoo , Smart Bank and Life House University . He is on the Leadership Development Group for the North American Steel Alliance .

Chancellor Carl A . Stockton announced that Auburn University at Montgomery had selected Christopher White , CPA , to serve as its new Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Services . White joined the AUM staff as Assistant Vice Chancellor for Financial and Administrative Services and Controller in September 2017 and has served as the university ’ s Acting Chief Financial Officer since May .

Drew Haley Smith becomes youngest female licensed Architect in the United States
Seay , Seay & Litchfield , P . C . ( SS & L Architects ) announced that Drew Haley Smith , a native of Auburn , Alabama , has become the youngest female licensed Architect in the United States . At just 23 years old , Smith completed all the requirements to be a licensed Architect , an accomplishment she completed over six years sooner than the average Architect according to the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards ( NCARB ). Smith graduated with honors in 2023 from Auburn University ’ s College of Architecture , Design & Construction ( CADC ). She earned dual degrees in Architecture and Interior Architecture from Auburn ’ s nationally recognized architecture program . She currently works in the Auburn branch office of SS & L Architects where she has managed projects totaling upwards of $ 173M .
