Women In Training, Inc.( WIT) held its fourth annual Mother-Daughter Brunch at the Renaissance hotel in downtown Montgomery. Zahara Jolie-Pitt, daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, was the keynote speaker. Angelina also attended the brunch in Montgomery to support ending period poverty, with hundreds of attendees and a community service award presentation.
LAGOON PARK SOFTBALL COMPLEX GETS $ 2.4 MILLION IN RENOVATIONS
The City of Montgomery unveiled $ 2.4 million worth of upgrades at the Lagoon Park Softball Complex in a ribbon-cutting event on March 6. Completed in February, the project features a long list of upgrades for visitors to enjoy, including five fields converted to fast pitch softball fields, permanent outfield fencing, re-sodded fields, a new shelter pavilion, a new covered batting cage complete with a turf surface and lights, umpire locker rooms with showers and restrooms and renovations to the main restrooms connected to the concession stand.
BAUMHOWER’ S VICTORY GRILLE TO OPEN NEW LOCATION IN MILLBROOK
Baumhower’ s Victory Grille, an award-winning destination for sports fans and food lovers of all ages, is set to open its newest location in Millbrook in Fall 2025. Known for its scratch-made and innovative menu, Baumhower’ s is excited to bring their legendary award-winning wings to the city of Millbrook. The new restaurant will feature Baumhower’ s newest prototype, delivering an unmatched dining experience to Elmore and Autauga Counties. The new Baumhower’ s will be located in The Marketplace at 17 Springs, the commercial element of the state-of-the-art recreational, entertainment and sports complex, 17 Springs.
RIVER & BLUES FESTIVAL REBRANDS AS RIVER JAM
For more than a decade, the City of Wetumpka’ s River & Blues Festival has brought thousands of visitors together to enjoy incredible live music along the scenic Coosa River. This cherished annual event has celebrated the power of music, boosted local tourism and strengthened community ties. Now, as Wetumpka continues to grow, so does its signature music festival. Wetumpka announced that the festival is evolving into River Jam— a refreshed take on the beloved event that will continue to celebrate the beauty of the Coosa River while welcoming music lovers of all genres.
USA TODAY NAMES JACKSON THORNTON AMONG BEST TAX & ACCOUNTING FIRMS LIST
Jackson Thornton, a certified public accounting and consulting firm headquartered in Montgomery, was named one of America’ s Best Tax & Accounting Firms for 2025 by USA Today. USA Today and market research company Statista partnered to create the list, which considered 3,500 survey responses from peers and clients. In total, only 100 companies were awarded the title of America’ s Most Recommended Tax Firms 2025 and 100 companies were awarded the title of America’ s Most Recommended Accounting Firm 2025.
