The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce traveled to Montgomery on March 5 for the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama( Alabama Chambers) inaugural Chamber Day at the Capitol. Chamber President and CEO, Brenda Dennis, joined over 125 chamber professionals, volunteer leaders and community leaders from 40 chambers of commerce for this pivotal event that brought together key stakeholders to engage with Alabama’ s legislative leaders and discuss the important issues shaping the future of the state.

HYUNDAI ANNOUNCES A $ 21 BILLION INVESTMENT INCLUDING THE MONTGOMERY PLANT

South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Corp. announced plans for a $ 21 billion investment in its U. S. operations, including upgrades and capacity expansion at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in Montgomery. The investment, planned between this year and 2028, aims to increase automobile production, localize steel and part production to avoid supply chain issues and invest in EV charging infrastructure, among other goals. Hyundai anticipates 14,000 new direct jobs as a result of the investment.

CITY OF MONTGOMERY SELECTED FOR ACCELERATOR FOR AMERICA’ S“ INSIGHTS INTO ACTION” WORKSHOP COHORT

The City of Montgomery has been selected to participate in Accelerator for America’ s Insights into Action: Data Tools for Local Impact workshop cohort, a national initiative designed to strengthen local efforts around economic mobility and capital access. This opportunity will provide Montgomery with valuable technical assistance to advance its efforts in supporting small businesses, particularly through the development of a Community Development Corporation( CDC) and a Community Development Financial Institution( CDFI).

Key features of the Open Data Portal include: Interactive dashboards to visualize trends like crime rates, road improvements and city spending with easily accessible tools, downloadable datasets to access raw data in formats like CSV and shapefiles for research, analysis or app development and community resources to find up-to-date information on city services, public projects, etc.
