MONTGOMERY CHAMBER SECURES $ 1.276 MILLION SEEDS GRANT
The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’ s Economic Development Team has been awarded a $ 1,276,500 SEEDS grant to facilitate the acquisition of the 111-acre Del Sol property, a key addition to Montgomery’ s expanding industrial corridor. This strategic investment is made possible through the State Industrial Development Authority’ s Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy( SEEDS) program. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians are well-known in the state for their ownership of several casinos and business interests. But the tribe’ s reach is far beyond gaming, to more than a dozen companies doing millions of dollars in business. The money spent is evident on the reservation, not far from the Wind Creek Casino. They have opened the Lavan Martin Assisted Living Facility, the Fred L. McGhee Early Learning Center and the reservation complex that includes a Pow-Wow center hosting several events each year, a sports fields and a 75,000-square-foot clinic that offers health care, dental, vision, rehab and other services for tribal members and employees. In 2023, the tribe created $ 4 billion in economic impact for Alabama.
