HUNTINGDON STUDENTS EXPLORE CALLING AND ETHICS
More than 100 Huntingdon College sophomores in the College ’ s CALL 200 class visited the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and considered , both individually and in groups , vocational discernment and ethical responsibility . CALL 200 , Introduction to Ethics and Vocation , is among three courses Huntingdon undergraduates complete on the topic of Vocation and Ethics as part of the core curriculum . Students were provided copies of Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson ’ s book , “ Just Mercy ,” at the conclusion of the day . The books were a gift from the Marsha and Tom Moore Endowed Distinguished Lectureship on Equity , Justice , and Peace , which also funded Mr . Stevenson ’ s appearance as the inaugural lecturer in that series in the fall of 2022 .
ASU & GEORGIA ’ S SOUTH UNIVERSITY PARTNER ON PHARMACY DOCTORATE
On February 1 , Alabama State University signed a historic agreement with South University of Savannah , Georgia . The partnership will offer a seamless avenue for ASU students to study and receive a doctoral degree in Pharmacy . ASU ’ s Dr . Carl S . Pettis , Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs , and South University ’ s Dr . Gilbert Singletary , Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs , represented the two schools and signed the document .
GOVERNOR KAY IVEY AWARDED GRANTS TO INCREASE ALABAMA PUBLIC SAFETY
Governor Kay Ivey awarded $ 5.6 million in grants to support statewide programs designed to increase public safety on Alabama ’ s highways and in the state ’ s communities . The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs ( ADECA ) administered grants from funds made available to the state by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the U . S . Department of Justice . Ivey awarded grants totaling more than $ 5 million to support the efforts to make Alabama ’ s roads safer by preventing injuries and fatalities , awarded two grants totaling $ 240,000 for law enforcement equipment and forensics training statewide and awarded a $ 103,343 grant to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency that will be used to ensure compliance of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act .

The Shoppes at EastChase hosted its Spring Edit on March 16 , featuring local musician Michael Gaby , pop-up vendors , an exclusive shopping pass and giveaways . Local business vendors included Aqualime Skincare , Bonefish Grill , Clay by K , FSHN FWRD , PB & J Permanent Jewelry , Gigi ’ s Fabulous Foods , Suga ’ s Lemonade and The Pastry Vault . Future retailer , Nothing Bundt Cakes offered complimentary samples to get the community excited for its grand opening in May . Bonefish Grill also offered complimentary Bang Bang Shrimp samples . Retailers , including American Eagle and Pies & Pints , were featured on a shopping pass with exclusive deals for attendees .
