MAX CREDIT UNION ANNOUNCES 2022 COMMUNITY ACHIEVEMENT RECIPIENT

MAX Credit Union announced Alabama Shakespeare Festival as the recipient of the 2022 MAX Community Achievement award . Through this award , MAX recognizes organizations that make an overall contribution to the community by providing impactful resources with an emphasis on youth in the areas they serve . ASF is a leader in arts and entertainment providing superior theatrical performances for more than 50 years . ASF also serves as a local source of arts education to all ages by offering community programs , acting camps for youth and Schoolfest Matinees , where students from across Alabama are transported into a world of imagination while gaining life lessons . ASF received a $ 10,000 donation to assist it in furthering its mission .

NEW WORKPLACE RIGHTS FOR PREGNANT AND BREASTFEEDING WORKERS

In late December 2022 , President Biden signed the Omnibus appropriations bill which contained two pieces of legislation protecting the rights of pregnant people and nursing parents : the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act ( PWFA ) and the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act . The PWFA requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant people effective June 2023 . The PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act expands the rights of nursing parents ( both salaried and hourly employees ) to have a private place to express their milk and to take breaks to pump and count pumping time as hours worked , if the employee is also working while they pump .

DREAMLAND NAMED ON NEWSWEEK ’ S AMERICA ’ S FAVORITE RESTAURANT CHAINS 2023 LIST

Dreamland and other Alabama barbecue restaurants , including Full Moon and Jim N ’ Nicks , were named on Newsweek ’ s “ America ’ s Favorite Restaurant Chains ” 2023 list . There are more than 100,000 chain restaurant locations in the United States and total annual sales at them are expected to be close to $ 900 billion this year . The awards are based on the results of a survey of more than 4,000 customers and employees of restaurant chains .

CACC CHANCELLOR ’ S AWARD WINNERS RECOGNIZED AT THE ACCA CONFERENCE

Four Central Alabama Community College employees were recognized at the statewide ACCA Conference in Birmingham for their outstanding work and commitment to student success . Each college may select one employee in the administrator category , one employee in the support staff category , and two employees in the faculty category . Leslie Mitchell was selected as an outstanding administrator , Sharon Humphrey as outstanding support staff , James Hurst as an outstanding academic faculty , and Michael White as outstanding technical faculty . Sharon Humphrey works in the financial aid office as a Financial Aid Assistant on the Alex City campus , Leslie Mitchell is a Student Services Specialist and ADA Coordinator on the Childersburg campus , James Hurst is a History Instructor and Michael White is an Electronics Technology Instructor .

REGIONS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE TORNADO-RECOVERY PLAN

Regions Bank and the Regions Foundation , a nonprofit initiative funded primarily by Regions Bank , announced support for people impacted by the January 12 tornado outbreak in Alabama . The Regions Foundation is providing two grants totaling $ 75,000 to support storm relief in Dallas and Autauga counties . Regions Bank is organizing teams of volunteers to assist with recovery . The group has already donated cases of water and nonperishable food to sheltering organizations in Selma and will be volunteering with clean-up efforts in Autauga County in the coming weeks . Finally , Regions Bank has designed financial services to help people and businesses impacted by the storms .
