Downtown Montgomery is the state ’ s newest Main Street Alabama community . This recognition marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to revitalize and enhance the heart of Montgomery . As a Main Street Alabama designated community , the City of Montgomery will have access to a comprehensive network of resources , expertise and support from across the state to enhance the city ’ s ongoing efforts to revitalize downtown Montgomery and make it a vibrant and engaging destination for residents and tourists .
COSA FEATURED COMEDIAN TOMMY DAVIDSON AT ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION LUNCHEON
On December 12 , 2023 , the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce concluded its 151st Annual Meeting , a signature event for the region ’ s business community and elected leadership that celebrates the power of partnerships . This year ’ s meeting highlighted an unprecedented era of momentum from 2019 through 2023 that has added new businesses , new jobs and record-breaking investment in Montgomery : 122 major projects totaling $ 3.6 billion in capital investment and 4,641 announced new jobs from 2019 through 2023 . The meeting ’ s keynote was from Bryan Stevenson , Founder and Executive Director of The Equal Justice Initiative ( EJI ). Stevenson spoke of his evolving identity as a Montgomery citizen , and how that influences his work at EJI and the Legacy Sites he and his team have built .
GROUNDBREAKING EVENT FOR TOWNEPLACE SUITES BY MARRIOTT IN MILLBROOK
The Council on Substance Abuse ( COSA ) celebrated its 50th anniversary during a luncheon on December 7 . The event featured famed actor and comedian , Tommy Davidson as guest speaker . Davidson shared his personal story from being abandoned in the trash at 18 months old to struggling with drug addiction . His testament brought inspiration and hope to their attendees .
The City of Millbrook and the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a groundbreaking event for the City ’ s fifth hotel to celebrate Elmore County ’ s continued economic growth . Located at Exit 179 / Cobbs Ford Road , the RAM Hotels development will be a TownePlace Suites by Marriott , RAM ’ s second hotel development in Millbrook . The TownePlace Suite brand is Marriott ’ s upscale , extended-stay product and is designed for one-night to three-month stays . The 104-room hotel project is scheduled to be completed in 2025 .
