Saving lives just got a little easier in Montgomery as the newest baby box was introduced by Safe Haven and Montgomery Fire / Rescue at Fire Station 10. The newest addition represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide a safe and anonymous alternative for surrendering an infant. Situated at 1920 S. Court Street, the location offers a secure and compassionate option for parents in crisis and help ensure every infant has a chance for a safe and loving future.

HAMPSTEAD COMPLETES CONSTRUCTION OF NEW MONTESSORI SCHOOL CAMPUS

Hampstead announced the completion and opening of the state-of-the-art Montessori School at Hampstead campus. Located at 8321 Conduit Street in the heart of Hampstead’ s walkable community, the newly completed $ 2.8 million campus represents the realization of a long-term vision to offer an unmatched educational experience for the Montgomery community.

MONTGOMERY MAYOR STEVEN L. REED RECEIVES 2025 D3 LEADERSHIP IN DIVERSITY AWARD FROM NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE

The National Urban League announced that City of Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed is the recipient of the 2025 D3 Leadership in Diversity Award. The award was presented to Mayor Reed during the Defend Democracy, Demand Diversity, Defeat Poverty( D3) Leadership Breakfast at the organization’ s Empowerment Summit in Washington, D. C. Mayor Reed was recognized with the award for his exceptional commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion while uplifting historically underserved communities.

$ 2 MILLION DONATION PROPELS DANIEL PRATT MUSEUM PROJECT FORWARD

HEART OF ALABAMA FOOD BANK LAUNCHES FOOD AS MEDICINE DIRECT SERVICE INITIATIVES

The Heart of Alabama Food Bank( HAFB) launched the Food as Medicine direct service initiatives to expand access to food and improve health outcomes in its communities. HAFB serves 35 counties across Alabama, from Tuscaloosa to Dothan, where over 256,000 people face food insecurity. To meet this need, HAFB has launched three new initiatives that deliver food support in more targeted and innovative ways.
The Daniel Pratt Museum project in Prattville received a significant boost with a $ 2 million donation from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama. This contribution brings the fundraising total to $ 4.5 million, advancing efforts to honor Daniel Pratt’ s legacy as an industrial pioneer and founder of Prattville. The museum aims to celebrate Pratt’ s contributions to Alabama’ s industrial history and is expected to become a cultural and educational landmark in the region.

LAGOON PARK SOFTBALL COMPLEX GETS $ 2.4 MILLION IN RENOVATIONS

The City of Montgomery unveiled $ 2.4 million in upgrades at the Lagoon Park Softball Complex during a ribbon-cutting on March 6. Completed in February, the renovations include five fast-pitch softball fields with new backstop netting, permanent outfield fencing and re-sodded turf. Additional improvements feature a covered batting cage with turf and lighting, as well as a new shelter pavilion for spectators. The project is part of the city’ s ongoing investment in outdoor recreation facilities.
