STATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Alabama Network of Children’ s Advocacy Centers
LYNN SCOTT
CHILD PROTECT
“ When I see children walk through our doors— hurt, ashamed and afraid to speak about the trauma they’ ve experienced— it breaks my heart. But when I see those same children after receiving the trauma-informed counseling and care they need— smiling, confident and ready to face the world— I’ m reminded why I support this work.”
ALABAMA NETWORK OF CHILDREN’ S ADVOCACY CENTERS
MISSION: To promote the multi-disciplinary process in fostering an abuse-free society for Alabama’ s children and support the development of the Children’ s Advocacy Center model through public awareness, training and collaborative partnerships.
BRAG LINES: The Child Advocacy Centers are in a unique league of their own. Children’ s Advocacy Centers are the only agencies solely dedicated to coordinating every aspect of the response to child abuse— and we do it all under one roof, at no cost to families. From specialized forensic interviews to trauma-informed counseling and medical referrals, CACs ensure that children receive the care, support and justice they deserve while also providing family advocacy services.
BACKGROUND: Children’ s Advocacy Centers were born in Alabama— and today, that bold idea has become a global movement. What started as one center committed to putting children first in the justice system has grown into a network of over 1,000 centers across more than 41 countries.
