TYSON FOODS MAKES SIGNIFICANT DONATION TO LOCAL FOOD BANK

Tyson Foods donated 80,000 pounds of frozen chicken , which is equivalent to 320,000 servings of protein , to those facing food insecurity in Montgomery communities with the help of the Montgomery Area Food Bank . The donation was made in May in conjunction with the Black College World Series ( BCWS ) presented by Tyson Foods at Riverwalk Stadium . The series featured eight Historically Black Colleges and Universities ( HBCU ) competing in the third BCWS championship .

AUM CULTURAL FESTIVAL CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Auburn University at Montgomery held its first-ever Cultural Festival in April to recognize the many cultures represented on campus and throughout the Montgomery community . The celebration of cultures featured performances , cuisine and art from around the globe . With students representing more than 40 nations , AUM is home to one of the state ’ s most multicultural university communities . Festivalgoers were able to sample a variety of international foods from local restaurants , from Jamaican to Indian to Mexican .

MAYOR ’ S YOUNG PROFESSIONALS COUNCIL WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

The Mayor ’ s Young Professional Council ( MYPC ) led by President Krishula Edwards welcomed 20 new members in April . The MYPC ’ s mission is to engage in dialogue and initiatives with the Mayor , fellow young professionals and the community to help make Montgomery a more equitable and desirable place to live , work and earn for all . This year ’ s initiatives include social mixers , active participation on policy committees and recruitment of young professionals for City departmental boards .
