The two degrees provide students with a solid foundation of time-tested business practices and changing technology trends combined with in-depth musical study .
HOW THEY ’ RE UNIQUE :
The bachelor ’ s program is the first music industry-related undergraduate business program in the country to be AACSB ( Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business ) accredited . The MBA in Music Industry shares AACSB accreditation as well . “ We put things into action and learn by doing ,” said Robert W . Smith , Director of the University ’ s Music Industry program . “ For example , we run a record label here at TROY . Ilium Records is a student-operated , independent record label that gives our students real-world experience of the ever-changing music business .”
WHAT THEY ’ RE WORTH :
TROY ’ s Business Administration-Music Industry programs represent an exciting merger of art and business . Graduates will be prepared to follow a variety of career paths , including business operations such as marketing and management and musical areas like audio production and performance , film scoring and concert production and composition and arranging , among others .

Chris Vrenna , Grammy Award winner , Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member ,
and founding member of the band Nine-Inch Nails , is a student in Troy University ’ s MBA-Music Industry program . “ The program is one of the first of its kind in the world , and I am proud to be one of its first students ,” Vrenna said . “ We grow up our whole lives learning our instruments and how to sing , dance and perform , but the one thing we never get taught is the business side of the music business . It has been an extraordinary learning experience .”
