Experience Lacombe’s three museums located in our historic Edwardian
downtown: the Flatiron Museum, Michener House Museum, and
Blacksmith Shop Museum. Founded in 1984, the Michener House
Museum is located in the oldest surviving home in Lacombe built in
1894. Threatened with demolition in 1971, the house was the first
conservation effort to save a heritage building in the community. The
house is also historically significant for being the birthplace of Roland
Michener, Governor General of Canada from 1967 to 1974.

The Leduc #1 Energy Discovery Centre is Canada’s largest oil and gas
museum, and is focused on ensuring that the stories of its hard-working
men and women are not lost. We are home to the Leduc #1 Well site
which gave birth to the modern day oil and gas industry. Here you can
stand on an actual rig or take a trip back 374 million years in the world’s
largest drill bit. Best of all you can hear the stories of those who worked
the patch and helped shape the province of Alberta as we now know it.
