The Danish Canadian National Museum is located just south of the
hamlet of Dickson, in a building that was built to serve as a dormitory
for students attending high school in Dickson. Explore and experience
the stories of Danish immigration to Canada, the Danish immigrant
experience, and the contributions Danes have made to Canadian culture
from Viking times through to the modern era. Don’t forget to stop in the
Saga Café to sample authentic Danish Canadian cuisine!

Relive shopping in this quaint little store located in the Danish
Settlement of Dickson. The experience begins as soon as you open the
door and smell the pungent cheddar cheese and fresh ground coffee. In
1985 owner Gordon Christiansen gave the store to the Danish Heritage
Society. It was designated an Alberta Historical Resource in 1988.
The museum was officially opened in 1991 by Queen Margarethe II of
Denmark. It offers programs, tours, events, a picnic area, gift shop and
tourist information.
