CONCEPTUAL DISCUSSION From the Ground Up 28 An intimate relationship to the site was crucial in developing initial design concepts . Because this project was to be an addition to the very building that housed project development team and process; access to the site was readily available and crucial to the design process. Greater site access added depth to the design inquiry by enabling discussion and conceptualization to take place in the surrounding relative environment. Ideas could be born, and quickly and precisely validated on site through models, sketches, and analysis.
