CENSATIONAL PROPOSAL 1 MAY 2012 | Page 4

Hello,
My name is Philipp and I am 26 years old. I come from Munich. Munich is a city in the south of Germany. I studied Education, Psychology and Sociology at the university in Munich. I speak four languages: German, English, French and Spanish. I am going to work at the CENSA institute for 4 months.
In the following text I would like to tell you something about the city I come from, about its culture and about life in this city.
For a lot of people Munich is associated with two things: Beer and the football team of Bayern Munich. And even though beer is a big part of the( culinary) culture of the city and Bayern Munich is very popular, there is much more interesting to discover in the city of Munich.
Munich
Facts & Geography
Munich is the third largest city in Germany – in the year 2012 it had about 1.38 million inhabitants and was growing very fast in recent years. Munich is in the south of Germany, close to the Austrian border and the Alps, the biggest mountains in Germany. It is the capital of the region of Bavaria and one of the most important cultural and economic centers of Germany. Munich is a multicultural city with a lot of immigrants. Today more than 20 % of the people living in the city have immigration background – the biggest groups are people from Turkey, Albania, Croatia, Serbia and Greece, but there are also some immigrants from Colombia and other Latin American countries living in the city.
The city is traditionally governed by the social-democratic party, although the region of Bavaria always has been governed by the conservative party. Munich is also the seat of the Bavarian State Parliament and of all state departments.
