DWYANE WADE
Dwyane Tyrone Wade is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the NBA's Miami Heat. He has established himself as one of the most well-known and popular players in the league. He had the top selling jersey in the NBA for nearly two years, as he led the NBA in jersey sales from the 2005 NBA Playoffs, until the midpoint of the 2006–07 season.
After entering the league as the 5th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Dwyane was named to the All-Rookie team and the All-Star team the following 10 seasons. In his 3rd season, Dwyane led the Miami Heat to their first NBA championship in franchise history. He was named the 2006 NBA Finals MVP as the Heat won the series 4-2 over the Dallas Mavericks. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Dwyane led the United States men's basketball team, commonly known as the "Redeem Team", in scoring, as they captured gold medal honors in Beijing, China. In the 2008–09 season, Dwyane led the league in scoring and earned his first NBA scoring title. He later won 2 more chamionships with the Heat (2012 and 2013.)
Dwyane was born on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois, to Jolinda (who served perion time in 1002-2003 for drug violations) and Dwyane Wade, Sr. He cites one of his older sisters, Tragil, as the individual most responsible for his childhood upbringing and for steering him in the proper direction. His parents divorced and he lived with his father and stepmother in Robbins, Illinois during his childhood. As a child growing up in the Chicago area Dwyane dolized Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan. Dwyane is a devout Christian and chose the number 3 because it represents the Holy Trinity.
Dwyane married his high school girlfriend Siohvaughn Funches in 2002. He filed for a divorce in 2007, which was granted in 2010 after a lengthy and acrimonious court battle. In 2011, Dwyane was granted sole custody of his two sons with Siohvaughn; Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade (born February 4, 2002) and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade (born May 29, 2007). Dwyane also raises his nephew, Dahveon (born 2002), who is the son of his sister Deanna.
