In 1982 , OMS missionaries landed in the Philippines . In 1984 , FECPI held its first worship service under the guidance of Bill and Joyce Oden . In 1989 , Faith Bible College ( FBC ) opened its doors to prepare pastors for future church plants . The following year , OMS ’ Every Community for Christ ( ECC ) began planting churches . Over the next few decades , church-planting teams planted 10 new churches . And then , the work stalled . Churches were planted ; churches were closed . The church-planting teams struggled . FECPI seemed to be in the “ wilderness .” The number of churches in FECPI remained around 11 for some time .
Then , in 2018 , a change came . Under a clear , direct call from God , Pastor Marcos Ocampo , ECC national coordinator at that time , was elected as the new FECPI president . At the general conference later that year , FECPI recognized seven newly organized churches . The denomination now had 18 churches . Pastor Mar , a visionary , motivator , and church planter , laid out a goal of 36 organized churches during his tenure .
FECPI is beginning to see the Promised Land . Today , it has 25 organized churches , including 1 in Israel . The denomination is working with 12 outreaches to help them become newly organized churches by the 2025 general conference . By then , FECPI will have reached the goal of 36 organized churches .
Many more FECPI outreaches now exist . When Pastor Mar became president , few churches even thought of starting outreaches . Today , almost every church
has one or more . They now allow lay pastors to lead outreaches and new church plants . This led to Pastor Mar setting a new goal at the 40 th anniversary celebration in March — 100 organized churches !
OMS ’ ECC Philippines has also made a significant paradigm shift . They discontinued being the church-planting teams for FECPI . This motivated FECPI to begin their own church planting . ECC now offers training and coaching to any group that wants to do disciple-making and church multiplication . In 2017 , ECC launched a 10-year church saturation project called The Juan Project , with the goal of launching a healthy , reproducing church in every sitio or purok ( district ) in each province and a healthy , reproducing student ministry on each public campus . Today , they have more than 200 partners , including FECPI , with outreach in 25 provinces ! The next step is to help Filipinos become OMS missionaries and send them into cross-cultural settings worldwide .
