POTS & PLANTERS
If styling a collection of plants together, perhaps choose pots of varied
colours, shapes and textures, giving each plant its own unique look.
Mixing vintage pots alongside retro and more contemporary ones can
work really well, or for a sense of unity just use one colour palette. It is
important of course to consider drainage for your plant, most pots will
have a hole allowing water to drain through the soil and be released. If
your chosen pot does not have a hole, just sit it the original plastic pot
in some gravel so the plants roots never sit in water.
HIMMELI
From the Swedish word ‘himmel’ meaning ‘heaven’ or ‘sky’, himmelis were
originally created in rural Nordic areas to celebrate the beginning of the
Winter Solstice, and then suspended around the home as good luck charms
for the future. These geometric structures display air plants perfectly - and
will be forming part of our Christmas decorational theme this year.
CARE
Every plant requires slightly different care, but the basic rules remain the
same. Most plants are killed by over watering rather than under watering!
Most plants only need to be watered once or twice a week and some much less
often. If you’re not sure use the simple fingertip test - if the upper layer of soil
is dry, you can water the plant again. Do your homework: invest a little time,
love and care into your green friends! Research on the internet, read books
(we stock several of the best house plant books) and we can give simple advice
and care tips in store when buying your plants and of course afterwards too.

CHOOSING A PLANT
There are so many species to choose from it should be simple to
find a plant with the colour, pattern, size or shape that appeals to
you aesthetically. Choose a plant that fits your lifestyle: if you travel
a lot and don’t spend much time at home, cacti and succulents will
be good choices! It’s also important to consider where the plant will
be sited at home - think about things like light and temperature.
Combine different shapes, sizes and structures. Think of your plants
as living pieces of art that will be the highlight of any room.

Rubber Plant
Few indoor plants are as easy to grow as the reliable Rubber Plant,
with its broad, intensely green and glossy leaves. They are happy in
most rooms of the house, being so adaptable to different light and
temperature conditions.
Swiss Cheese plant
The Monstera is one of our absolute favourites to fill an empty
corner, an instant hit of luscious green with heart-shaped, sprawling
foliage and also requiring very little attention.
POPULAR PLANTS Fiddle-leaf Fig
A social media superstar, with its elegant, viola-shaped leaves and
sculptural silhouette, the Fiddle-leaf Fig can be a little more tricky to
care for, but is well worth the effort!
Succulents and Cacti
Despite their prickly features, cacti make great house plants for
everyone from beginners to advanced gardeners. Very few other
plants need such little attention or care while bringing unlimited
sculptural style to any room in your home. Succulents come in many
different varieties, from graphic looking Echiverias, with their large
rosettes of thick leaves to the ornamental trailing String of Pearls. Air plants
Air plants are massively on-trend. Their sculptural leaves give
an alien, otherworldly impression, and are the subject of much
fascination for many of our customers! They absorb moisture and
nutrients through their leaves and because of this they do not require
roots or soil, and only need minimal watering to live indoors.
