A FOUNDATION BUILT ON HERITAGE AND FAMILY VALUES

The Morrish family has been one of the foremost and innovative building companies in the South for more than 60 years.
The Poole-based company first became involved with Poundbury in 1997, working in consortium with other developers to deliver the sustainable community we know today. Morrish Builders maintain this exceptionally high-quality and architectural standard to this day.
Joint Managing Director Steven Morrish says:“ The Morrish family have worked in the construction industry now for over 60 years. We have members of staff, both on site and in the office, that have worked for the company for over 20 years and still use many of our original suppliers.
“ I think this is a testament to the fact that we all enjoy a challenge, and are progressive – moving forward with the times and learning together. We believe loyalty is a very important principle in business and as a company we ensure this translates through to our customers.”
Joint Managing Director David Morrish says:“ When we first came onto site it comprised 400 acres of empty fields with some limited development. It has been great to see it evolve. Poundbury is not just a set of buildings that form part of a development, it is a thriving community with a whole host of businesses, boutiques and restaurants.
“ It really has helped draw people to Dorchester and drive the local economy forward.”
Morrish maintains a strong working relationship with the Duchy of Cornwall and is also currently working on the Newquay Growth Area, some 3,000 homes over a 20 year period and also a large development site of 2,000 homes in Romsey. Both are developments where the landowner wishes to leave a legacy for future generations.
“ When we first came onto site it comprised 400 acres of empty fields with some limited development.”
Steven Morrish adds:“ We are looking forward to continuing our work with the Duchy of Cornwall as we progress our new releases in the North-East Quadrant of Poundbury and soon start work in the Northern Quadrant.
“ Morrish is working with the Duchy to create an urban extension to Newquay, based on HRH The Prince of Wales’ s design principles, at Nansledan in Cornwall. We also have other exciting projects on the horizon, including some luxurious bungalows nearby in Weymouth, and we are working to create communities at other locations across the south including Romsey and Chard.”
Morrish Builders also retain many commercial interests at a number of their developments including Tregunnel Hill and Nansledan in Newquay and Poundbury.
