The Buttermarket Welcome to the heart of the South West Quadrant

The Buttermarket is surrounded by boutique shops, businesses and cafés and comes alive during the day. The focal point is the iconic Butter Market Bakery, which is an artisan bakery with a rustic interior and the iconic Maiden House at the south end. New additions to the Buttermarket include the new Post Office within the relaunched Buttermarket Stores, the Bramble Café and Deli, run by Mat Follas, Poundbury Pilates and Wessex ECOEnergy. Co-owner of the Bramble Café Amanda Follas said:“ It is a great space and we’ re pleased to open the cafe here and be part of the square. We can’ t wait to see it progress this year.” At Easter, the square was bustling with children and families taking part in an Easter egg hunt organised by traditional toy shop Boo’ s Toy Shop. Owner Charlie Polley said:“ The Buttermarket is perfect for events as it is so open and feels great when it is filled with lots of people.” Boo’ s Toy Shop also organise an annual Santa’ s Grotto in the square, which brings in gleeful families from across Dorset.
