The North East Quadrant
A new school and over 500 new homes currently highlight Poundbury’ s last phase of development
The North East Quadrant will increase the current development by a third and increase employment space by 50,000 ft squared. Opening in 2016, the new school will cater for 600 pupils after the nearby Damers School moves location. The development in this quarter is ongoing and will continue for the next five years. The North East Quadrant borders The Great Field, the back of Queen Mother Square heading towards Poundbury Cemetery and behind the Dorset Cereals factory on Peverell Avenue East. CG Fry is currently building hundreds of the new homes and commercial units. The buildings will be a mix of classical and vernacular in style and range from classically designed five-bedroom houses to onebedroom apartments. Some will have soaring views over the Great Field and others will look north over the countryside. Philip Fry, Managing Director of CG Fry, said:“ The latest phase features inspired design and places even greater emphasis on energy efficiency and reduction on fuel demand.” During the next 12 months, 48 new homes will be handed over to the Guinness Partnership for their tenants and offered for shared ownership opportunities.
