I thoroughly enjoy being part of the patients as educators scheme .
From a selfish point of view it is good to feel useful and to be contributing giving something back to the NHS . I enjoy seeing young people exploring new situations and growing in confidence .
I ’ m also aware that as a person who has been managing having Parkinson ’ s for the last 15 years I have become an expert in managing my own Parkinson ’ s and it is good to share that knowledge with others .
Taking part in physical examinations is also interesting as often it is the first time the students have had the chance to put the theory into practice . It is satisfying to see their confidence grow .
The team looking after us are always supportive and well organised which helps to make me feel secure in the activities we are involved in .
