“100” by Rhyan Clapham (Dobby)
A hundred reasons, every reason another one to believe in
Every time they would take you out of the space
They would laugh in your face, said you’re dreaming,
a hundred to jump For every opportunity given to learn a lesson, every bit of
history never leave it forgotten, every opportunity
you can call into question, for every single dollar they’re
making off of the cotton
I’m raising the bar, to educate this nation of ours,
I’m here cause every graduate before me helped to pave a new path,
Dr Pat O’Shane, we’re changing tomorrow,
We’ve made it this far For every drop of water they’re sucking out of the basin,
every Adam Goodes who’s facing discrimination,
for every Essie Coffey who’s balancing inequality,
every single day we can make it a better nation
Our history is everything,
and it’s continuously developing,
a hundred defending our community
telling my children they can do anything For every single girl that is facing life with depression,
Every boy with a dream but a curse, cause of complexion
Every family child that was taken cause of “protection”,
Every fight for our land to return to rightful possession
100 reasons
How are we 3% but a quarter within the prison?
We need order within the system
but your being here is important,
a hundred more reasons to listen
Your success is interconnected
Every single case where you save them
Minimal sentence, every single statement we change
how we represented
Every single day we can take a step in progression
A hundred reasons, every reason to give us more to
believe in
A hundred achieving, it’s one for every one to believe in,
A hundred achieving, for every set of Lungs that are breathing
A hundred achieving, it’s one for every one to believe in,
A hundred achieving, the reason we’re eternally dreaming.
