Ask the other half to research a battle from Roman times. Debrief with differences and similarities. Allow them to use their devices throughout the entire activity. By searching Twitter for hashtags, you can find links to a wealth of information. However, you can also use Twitter as an online discussion board. You can use Twitter as an audience response system (first person to tweet the correct answer). You can use Twitter to write papers. (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn can each be cited in MLA and APA formatting now.) Another extremely powerful tool in hijacking your students’ technology is the QR Code. QR Codes can be generated for free using several online generator sites. QR Codes are a way to connect our analog world of presentations, paper, and books to the digital world. With QR Codes, you can provide videos, you can link to articles, or you can create surveys or quizzes using Survey Monkey and push all these things to their mobile devices just by having them scan the codes.
