Congratulations!

Congratulations to Dewayne Dickens, Associate Professor of Developmental Studies/Instructor Coordinator at
the Metro Campus Communications Division, for earning his Ph.D. in Education (Curriculum and Social Foundations), with a cognate in English, from Oklahoma State University. The title of his dissertation is: "Beyond Statistics: African American Male Persistence in Community College." Congratulations, Dr. Dickens!

As a result of the proposals developed by the Faculty Development Sub-Council and the Learning Effectiveness
Sub-Council, to the Academic Council and the Office of Academic Affairs, the following reassign times are available for Academic Year 2013 beginning July 1, 2012.
4 Student Learning Fellowships (one per campus) for 3 hours reassign time per fall, spring, and summer semester
of AY 2013 for faculty members interested in providing support to the academic divisions of the College in developing discipline/program assessment plans including appropriate assessment methodology, data gathering,
and analysis. A workshop will be held this summer for advancement of these skills. These positions will work
closely with faculty, associate deans, and the Dean of Academic Assessment (a restructured position) in Academic Affairs.
4 CELT Campus Coordinators (one per campus) for 3 hours reassign
time per fall, spring, and summer semester of AY 2013 for faculty
members interested in providing support to the academic divisions of
the College in developing faculty development opportunities and research-based practices. These posit ions will work closely with faculty,
associate deans, Dean of University Transfer and Career Programs,
and the Faculty Director of the new Center for Excellence in Learning
and Teaching (CELT).
1 Faculty Director for the new Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching for 9 hours reassign time per fall
and spring semester and 6 hours reassign time for summer of AY 2013 for a faculty member interested in planning, developing, and implementing a Center focused on the scholarship of learning and teaching. This position
will work closely with the Office of Academic Affairs, the Campus Coordinators, and leaders of faculty development activities.
