What’s Next at TCC for Achieving the Dream? Our
Achieving the Dream teams will continue finding data to
better understand what our students struggle with as
they aim for success. Additionally and most importantly,
all of us as staff and faculty must search through the
unfolding data to find ways of helping our students attain success in the classroom, in the advising office, at
the financial aid desk, in the LRC, in the division office,
in the student lounge, in the book store, in the cafeteria,
at the registration desk, in the computer lab, in the
math/reading/writing/language labs, in the nursing
office, in the veteran’s office, in the online TCC websites,
at the help desk areas—any area of the college that
the student visits.
We absolutely do need a village, a community, to be
agents for student success at TCC. Please join the
Achieving the Dream work by reviewing our research
findings and using the results to help shape your job,
your classroom, and your interactions with students.

International Scholarship Program
Recipient Announced
TCC now has its first Benjamin
A. Gilman International Scholarship Program award recipient. Since the inception of the
Gilman Scholarship Program in
2001, 18,960 applications
have been received and 4,728 scholarships have been
awarded to students participating in study abroad programs. The Gilman Scholarship Program seeks to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the
countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the
Gilman Program offers scholarships for students who
have been traditionally underrepresented in education
abroad. Mr. Christopher Cooper is our first TCC award
winner and has won a $5,000 scholarship to help defray the costs of his continued studies of the Japanese
language in Nagoya, Aichi Japan.
