What was your worst hair memory you have, when you were a kid? This is what they had to say... VANESSA PAPAS As a kid my hair was always worn one of two ways – long, parted down the middle, and dead straight – or messily tied back in a half ponytail. I don’t have many ‘bad hair day’ pics of myself (fortunately), aside from the dreaded school photo. This is probably one of my worst hair pics and the thick, white padded horse-shoe shaped garment on my head, commonly referred to as ‘the alice band’ to this day still sends shivers down my spine. My mother would always insist I wear my hair ‘off my face’ and she was adamant I pull my hair back, or wear a band. I was only allowed bangs when I was old enough to book my own salon appointment so my forehead always looked way larger than it is in real life! I went through a stage when I was in primary school (that continued into high school) where I would get a bee in my bonnet and cut my own hair (the school pic below is a result of one ‘off the wall cutting sessions’). I would just tie it up in a high pony and snip it off. Of course, it would be completely skew and I’d have to to to a hairdresser to fix it. Only once have I gone really short, and it looked horrible on me. I have a very round face and short hair makes me look like a chipmunk. My worst hair memory? I hated having it brushed – and still do. I remember constant fights because my hair was always so knotted at the back and it would hurt like hell getting a comb through it. Today I refuse to brush it without putting detangling spray on it first. Sadly, my six-year-old daughter has inherited my loathing for hair brushing and she refuses to allow me to touch her locks either. 1 2 Argan Oil Home Care Avon Advance Techniques Instant Repair 7 Treatment Spray Turn to page 51 for more... But I didn't have much of a choice when I was a kid — which is probably why I was left with a haircut fit for a boy. While my mom didn't always torture me with bad hairstyles (I did have long hair during most of my childhood), my mom decided to give me a chop one day… making me loo
