Pre-K classes fill up quickly. Parents are encouraged to register their students online before attending Roundup. Students qualify for free full-day Pre-K based on one or more of five criteria: • unable to speak and understand English (language test required) • economically disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program) • homeless • child of a member of the United States armed forces (active, deceased or injured) • has been in foster care in Texas Families who live outside Cedar Hill may enroll for Pre-K after Aug. 1. Learn more about required documentation and the benefits of full-day Pre-K at chisd.net/pre-k. Kindergarten Facts Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2018. Each elementary school campus has its own signature program. All students experience the love of learning and the required curriculum, but through different methods. The six elementary schools and their signature programs: • • • • • Bray – Fine Arts Collegiate Prep – College Pathway High Pointe – STEAM* Leadership Academy Highlands – Spanish Language Enrichment Lake Ridge/Plummer – MicroSociety (students create their own businesses, government and economy) • Waterford Oaks – Computer Science School of Choice More information about signature programs can be found on campus web pages. Go to chisd.net and click Select a School. Students must register at the campus where they are zoned but may apply at chisd.net for in-district transfer beginning June 1. CHISD is an open enrollment district; students who live outside Cedar Hill may apply to enroll.
