Cedar Hill ISD Longhorn Insider April 2018 | Page 5

SUPERINTENDENT MESSAGE A Time to Celebrate T his is the time of year when we celebrate the culmination of our work. We see the efforts of our students and staff in college acceptance letters, performance on standardized tests, and academic achievements. In this last Longhorn Insider of the school year, you will find inspirational stories on our kids and our Teachers of the Year. They make CHISD The Leading Choice. Reading this issue fills me with pride. Spring is also budget season. Administration and the CHISD Board of Trustees may propose a Tax Ratification Election (TRE)/Tax Swap. Voter approval in September would bring the district’s maintenance and operation fund more than $5 million annually. The proposed change would lower the local property tax rate and increase money for safety, innovative curriculum, technology and other critical needs. We will have numerous public meetings; details will be posted at chisd.net. I look forward to seeing you at the many events taking place before the last day of school. Thank you for choosing CHISD. Sincerely, Billy Snow, Ed.D.
